Military Affairs Committee

Advancing Military and Community Partnerships, Supporting Regional Growth

The Santa Maria Valley is home to a proud military heritage, anchored by our close proximity to Vandenberg Space Force Base. Grounded in our foundational values of collaboration, community stewardship, and excellence, the Military Affairs Committee serves as the vital bridge between our local business community, civic leaders, and regional military installations.

The committee helps maintain and strengthen the Chamber's relationship with Vandenberg Space Force Base while providing strategic input to Chamber leadership. By staying actively informed of military-related news, events, programs, and partnerships, this forum ensures the Santa Maria Valley remains a highly supportive, interconnected environment for service members, their families, and defense-related industries.

Areas of Focus

The committee channels its strategic efforts into two primary pillars to drive long-term regional prosperity:

  • Community Engagement: Fostering mutual support, cultural alignment, and strong relationships between military personnel, local residents, and the broader business community.

  • Economic Development: Identifying and supporting regional economic partnerships, defense-related industries, and business opportunities that benefit the Santa Maria Valley marketplace.

Committee Purpose

Through regular, high-impact monthly meetings, the committee serves as an active advisory body for Chamber leadership:

  • Expert Speakers: Each month, the committee hears from different military-related speakers on a wide range of specialized topics, ensuring members stay at the forefront of defense community developments.

  • Strategic Input: Following these briefings, committee members discuss the relevant issues and provide vital input on the direction, advocacy, or supportive actions the Chamber should take to benefit our region.
